Education & Training
Our Family Resource Center has an abundance of programs, classes, and services available to parents and caregivers to assist with raising children, learning English, integrating into the community, and further developing interpersonal and leadership skills.
The Parent Leadership Training Institute
The Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) is a FREE, 20 session program that combines advocacy, leadership, and citizenship skills into a curriculum to promote the best interests of children.
PLTI is an initiative of the Connecticut Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity and Opportunity. It is sponsored by the Bridge Family Center with funding support from the Parent Trust and Connecticut State Department of Education.
PLTI is on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. beginning January and concluding in June. Classes are held at the Charter Oak International Academy Family Resource Center, 425 Oakwood Avenue, West Hartford. Free childcare for school-age children (4+) and a meal is provided.
